GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

In just a few days, Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport officials are anticipating hundreds of people traveling for the holiday season, and they want travelers to know what to expect.

"It shouldn't be difficult to get through security this year. We're doing everything we can to keep things very safe. Safe is our number one priority," airport marketing director Teckie Hinkebein said.

Hinkebein said they already work closely with TSA officials. In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris, they will be working even closer.

Those traveling say they feel confident in the security, so flying isn't a fear.

"Listen, if you're going to die, you're going to die," George Offenberger said.

"I enjoy it. I don't worry about it, so it's good for me," Marilyn Offenberger said.

"I just think their security is pretty good at the moment. I think they would look at the states that aren't ready or the countries that are not ready as prepared as the states. I think the states are in good shape," John McGinley, of San Francisco, said.

For national security reasons, Hinkebein couldn't give any specific information about screening changes for passengers, but wants those traveling to know they will have nothing to worry about.

Hinkebein added if you see something, say something.

"We want to remind our passengers to be vigilant. The Gulfport Police Department is on site around the clock so you can report anything you see to them," Hinkebein said.

Hinkebein also wants to let travelers know they should book as early as possible to take advantage of lower rates, check TSA.gov for carry-on rules and also for passengers to arrive early if traveling with children or anyone who needs special assistance.
