Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs ace pitcher Kaitlin Lee inked a softball scholarship with Ole Miss on Tuesday.
Kaitlin posted a 19-4 record with a 1.85 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 151 innings last season. She was a big reason the Lady Bulldogs (46-13) captured MACJC and Region 23 championships.
Gulf Coast softball coach Kenneth Long said, "I think the pitching coach there is going to be good for her. Coach Christie Meeks has helped her a lot at this level, but I think the pitching coach there will take her to a different level."
Lee displayed her toughness when she suffered facial fractures in a game at Jones on March 30. She was hit in the face by a softball and despite those injuries, she returned less than a month later and ended up with a 9-1 pitching record the remainder of the season.
