Andrew's Blog: Severe weather possible for Wednesday morning

It has been warm and muggy over the past several days, and in South Mississippi, during this time of year that usually means a cold front isn't too far behind.

Our next cold front arrives Wednesday bringing with it the chance for strong storms throughout the morning hours. The same system responsible for delivering our chance for severe weather is also responsible for the severe weather in the Midwest over the past several days.

For the morning hours on Wednesday, expect the possibility for strong to damaging winds with heavy rainfall, bringing on the chance for flash flooding. We will also be tracking the chance for a brief spin-up tornado or two as the line of storms moves from West to East across South Mississippi.

The storms will be passing right through during the morning commute for most, making the conditions for the morning commute rough.

After the main line of storms we can expect heavy showers throughout the early afternoon hours, but some may actually luck out and see a few peaks of sunshine before the sun goes down Wednesday.

The cooler, drier weather returns for the end of the week and looks to continue as we head into the weekend, but for Wednesday morning be sure to take it slow on the roadways and never try to drive through flooded areas.

Be sure to tune into Good Morning Mississippi for all of the latest on the storms moving through the area.
