Moss Point Tigers aiming for back-to-back Class 4A Playoff victories

Last week the Moss Point Tigers, the No. 4 seed in the Region 8-4A ranks opened the Class 4A playoffs by defeating West Lauderdale 20 to 14.  Friday night at 7, the 6 and 5 Tigers travel to Summit, facing 9 and 3 North Pike.

Tigers head coach Willie Brown has his team heading in the right direction in his second season at Moss Point. The key to the Tigers success, a solid run game, using a Wing-T offense.

Brown said, "I'm happy to be part of this great organization here in Moss Point.  You know we still have a long way to go and it's good to be part of the organization."

Senior running back Travis Marion has picked up his game in recent weeks.  The 5-10, 175 pound senior has 806 yards rushing with 8 touchdowns.

Coach Brown also relies on 5-10, 185 pound junior running back Omni Wells.  He leads the Tigers with 975 rushing yards with 7 touchdowns.

"Oh, it's not me, it's the offensive line, "stated Wells. "I give all my credit to the offensive line."

Wells is confident Moss Point can return to the coast Friday night with back-to-back playoff victories.

Wells said, "I think we can beat them because our defense is getting stronger.  Our offense, offensive line, keeps pushing.  Get the W."

Fullback Cal'terrius Anderson was having a great season with 787 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns, before an injury sent him to the sidelines.

Defensively, Rayshon Marcel has piled up 119 tackles with 3 sacks. Brown said, "I just can't wait till Friday night to let those guys loose."
