Often times, upscale hotels are quiet and peaceful. However, that's not the case now at the Sheraton Four Points where sounds of construction can be heard everywhere.

The reason — the hotel is changing its name to Doubletree by Hilton.

“I think our owners saw the value in Biloxi and the growth and we want to make sure that we have a strong brand that's going to capture the increased demand in the area and we think this brand is going to give us that advantage,” General Manager Kenny Glavan explained.

Everything will be new including the rooms, the lobby, the restaurant, and the pool area. Even the kitchen where Johnny Lowe prepares tasty treats for guests will be renovated.

“It makes me feel real great. We've been here for a long time, five years or so, it's going to be wonderful, a wonderful kitchen,” Lowe said.

The renovations cost more than $5 million, and that has employees like Toni Alexander feeling pumped.

“We are excited. I mean, we can't wait to become Doubletree by the Hilton. We're just all excited and waiting on guests to come and join us," Alexander exclaimed.

Renovating a 195 room, nine story hotel and remaining open at the same time is not easy, according to Glavan.

“It's difficult, but when you have a good team that is seasoned, which we do here, it makes it a little less challenging than it normally would be," noted Glavan.

While the managers and the employees who work at the Sheraton Four Points are very excited about the transformation taking place, longtime customers who have stayed here over the years are just as excited.

“I think it's terrific. I think anytime you can re-energize, revitalize a property like this, it's good for the community, it's good for business, certainly good for visiting teams in the Southern League,” said John Traub, who frequents the hotel while working for the Southern League Minor Baseball organization.

And while just about everything will be changing, something will stay the same — the beautiful views of the coast.

If the construction timetable holds, the property should re-open as the Doubletree by Hilton in mid-January 2016.
