JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The search for two missing fishermen has ended.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Sheriff Mike Ezell confirmed that the two men found near the Interstate 10 bridge over the Pascagoula River were 69-year-old Screano Hilton and 72-year-old Butch Moran.

According to Ezell, Hilton and Butch Moran were reported missing around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after they didn’t return from a fishing trip.

Screano and Moran launched their boat from the San Juan Marina off Bass Road in Vancleave. Ezell says deputies found the boat in the marsh north of the I-10 bridge around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The bodies were later found in the same area.

According to authorities, neither man was wearing a life jacket.

Ezell says the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks assisted in the search, and a command post has been set up at the Hickory Hills Clubhouse.
