PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

Fat and salty. That's the word from the seafood docks in Pass Christian this opening day of oyster season.

Nearly 30 boats hit the water early Wednesday morning in search of their sack limit. By late morning, Darlene Kimbal, of Kimballs Seafood said four boats had unloaded and each had its limit.

The limit is seven sacks a day for tonging and 10 sacks daily for dredging.

DMR Executive Director Jamie Miller visited the dock around noon to check on the progress of opening day. He said things are going well. Oyster fishermen are hoping there's enough catch to keep the season going.
