Fishing trip for service members on Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day, a day to honor and pay tribute to those men and women who served their country in uniform. Several ceremonies are being held across the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast today in honor of those veterans. But a very special fishing trip was held Wednesday morning to pay tribute to those who are active duty.

Six charter captains took eighteen active duty service men from Keesler Air Force Base on a fishing trip in the waters of the Bay of St. Louis. There they caught speckled trout, drum and sheepshead.

The charter captains said it was simply a way to say thank them for their service. The service men said it was nice to be appreciated for what they did. And all said they wouldn't trade serving their country for anything else.

In addition, this may be the last fishing trip for some of these servicemen from Keesler for quite some time. Several of them are going to be deployed in the next few weeks in the war on terror.

Doug Walker was on the fishing trip and will have more on the story later today on WLOX News and on
