Christian Collegiate Academy taking aim on M-A-I-S State title

Gulfport's Christian Collegiate Academy is one of two unbeaten high school football teams on the coast. The other is Resurrection.

Monday afternoon under crisp cool conditions, Christian Collegiate Academy head coach Joe Roberts had his Bulldogs out on the practice field.
CCA has ripped off 11 consecutive victories.

Roberts said, "Started back in the summer.  We worked hard in the weight room and it just carried over.  I'm very proud of our guys.  Their work ethic working on the small things each week to try to get better."

Senior Devan Roberts, the coaches son, leads the Bulldogs offense.  He's completed 78 percent of his pass attempts for 13-hundred-63 yeards, 21 touchdowns and only one interception.

Besides his ability to sling the football, Roberts has 1,174 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns.
Under his leadership and talents, the Bulldogs remain unbeaten.

"It feels great, "stated Devan.  "The team has worked hard this year.  I think we took it to heart last year when we lost in the first round.  So, its been kind of a new focus this yar and we've been more consistent.  Worked hard in the weight room this summer.  I think we're ready."

202 pound fullback T.J. Clolinger says a revamped offensive lline has put the bite into the Bulldogs offensive attack.
T.J. has 565 yards rushing  with 9 TDs, netting 12 yards a carry.

Clolinger said, "We added a few people on the offensive ine.  I think they really helped out a lot.  We run the ball a little more this year than we did last year, which helps us out."

Christian Collegiate Academy is the No. 1 ranked M-A-I-S team in the state.
