SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Two South Mississippi counties that didn't have the Toys For Tots Program last year will get that Christmas assistance this year.

Toys For Tots is back in Jackson and George counties after Pamela Williams became certified to oversee the program.

“The families are struggling just to be able to put the food on the table and keep the lights on. So this gives them a little bit of hope. It helps provide for the children. And that's what Christmas is about is bringing joy to the children. I just want to continue to do that,” said Williams.

Organizers say they need people to donate toys and money to make this year a success. Families wishing to sign up to receive toys for their children must do so online by Nov. 25 on toysfortots.org.

The program will have a fundraiser on Saturday at the East Central Community Center in Hurley from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
