OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Two young coast actors have put their hearts and souls into a theater project. And it all comes to fruition at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs November 6th through the 8th.

The "Last Five Years" is a love story that follows two New Yorkers in their 20s, who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. It's a two person show; and the two people starring in the show are also the show's directors and producers.

Sean Harding and Rebecca Smith have wanted to do this show together for a number of years. They say it was well worth taking a leap of faith for a show they love.

"Doing this show as a project together has been such a reward because we've learned so much. And it's great material and incredibly satisfying", Smith said.

Harding added, "In the beginning it was just a concept for the first couple of years."

But after that he said things started happening fast.

"Then we bought the rights; and now we have a date, we have all these things to do, we're making lists, and having so much fun!"

Harding plays Jamie, a young up and coming  novelist, who falls in love with Cathy, a struggling actress played by Smith. Their story is told almost entirely through songs. And there's an interesting twist to the way that story is told. Cathy's songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time. Meanwhile Jamie's songs start at the beginning of their love story. At one point they meet in the middle, when Jason proposes.

It has been a huge undertaking for these two young actors who both have full time day jobs. And as they finally see their dream show come to life on stage, they say it's all worth it. Smith says she can't wait to share their hard work with an audience.

"And we have been working so hard on this; and it has become a reality and it is coming together so beautifully for us."

"The Last Five Years" is this weekend only, at the Mary C in Ocean Springs.  Performances are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night at 7:30pm.  Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by contacting the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center at (228) 818-2878 or by ordering online at http://themaryc.org/
