STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Voters in Stone County will have to wait until Wednesday to learn the outcome of Tuesday's election.
A computer used to count the electronic ballots crashed Tuesday, forcing election officials to do a hand count. It took hours to go through the paper ballots and tape read outs to hand tally the results using adding machines.
The crowded courtroom where the count was taking place was reminiscent of elections before computers became the norm with adding machines and workers calling out results to the crowd.
But the hand counted results are unofficial. Wednesday, Stone County officials will get a different computer in to run the ballots and get the official results.
