GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - We're getting a clearer picture of what may have motivated an off-duty firefighter to shoot a man in the leg this weekend in Gulfport.
Police now say they were called to the home on Roxbury Place because of a rape allegation involving a woman. Sunday, investigators would only say they were called about a "disturbance."
Before officers could even get there, the fight escalated to a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man inside Scott Stuckey's home with a gunshot wound to the leg. The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital. It's unclear if the woman involved in the alleged rape needed any kind of medical treatment.
Stuckey was taken to the Gulfport Police Department and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Gulfport Police say their investigation is ongoing. The findings of the rape allegation will be presented to a grand jury for review.
