SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - High school basketball begins this weekend, and local referees will be on the court. The Gulf Coast Basketball Officials Association voted Wednesday night to end its walkout.
One referee said the vote to return to the court was 42-2.
High school refs threatened to sit out the upcoming basketball season because they wanted more money. They asked for a $15 per game raise. The state budgeted $5 a game.
No word yet on what broke the stalemate to make sure local refs officiate high school basketball games.
