Construction to Begin Soon on Beau View Condominiums

Eight months ago, South Mississippi's largest condominium development almost went into foreclosure.

In just a few days, Beau View Condominiums' developers and employees will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially launch the development's new sales office.

The $120-million development will be perched just west of Edgewater Mall, off Highway 90.

"It looks like it's just piles of dirt, but we actually have a lot going on, and hope to be able to here in the near future be able to drive by and see the building going up," said Beau View's Marketing Director, Tonya Zimmern.

Two cranes and concrete pilings are the only visual signs that the construction of Beau View Condominiums is about to begin.

But the property's marketing director says within the next year, the site will be home to a luxurious 22-story condominium tower, the first of four towers facing the beach.

"The four towers will be staggered back so that every building will have a view of the Gulf and the water," Zimmern said.

Condo prices range from $435,000 to $1.4 million.

"Our units will be coming standard with a lot of what you would normally see that would be upgrades in other projects. We've got upgrade appliance packages, crown molding, porcelain tiles, things of that nature that make us stand out," Zimmern said.

This multimillion dollar project has been five years in the making.

Construction on the project halted some time ago because its original owners owed contractors millions of dollars, but the project came back to life after Florida-based Davis Companies bought the property and took over the project in August of last year.

"It was always an incredible vision, just had a few hiccups along the way, and we think we've got those worked out. There were a lot of creditors and issues out there, and everyone was paid in full, so I think everybody, including the creditors are happy about what's happening," Zimmern said.

Beau View will officially launch the opening of its sales office on Thursday, March 10, but many of the first tower's 112 units have been reserved.

"We're in reservation stages now. We will be going to contract here soon, hopefully with in the next 30 to 45 days," Zimmern said.

Construction on the project cannot begin until Beau View's developers build an access road and water tie-in system.

Beau View's marketing director says developers are now completing these two requirements issued by the city of Biloxi.

Construction is expected to begin in the very near future.
