Pascagoula PD: Be on the lookout for men impersonating officers

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Pascagoula police are investigating a report of two men impersonating police officers.

Lt. Doug Adams said a man claims he was pulled over by two unmarked vehicles Wednesday evening on Bayou Casotte Parkway.

"One vehicle had a blue light that was used to stop the gentleman," said Adams. "Two men exited the vehicles and came to the gentleman's window saying he was being pulled over for a traffic violation."

The men were dressed in plain clothes, wore hats and jackets and also had badges. Adams said the men reportedly identified themselves as police officers but didn't say what agency they were with.

"We checked with all of the law enforcement agencies around and even in Mobile. None of them know anything about this report."

Police report the men were driving an older model Chevrolet Caprice and Chevrolet Cavalier.

"If you're being pulled over and you're not comfortable with the area or any circumstances, we tell drivers to slow down and drive to a more populated or more lit area."

If you have any information on this investigation, you're asked to call Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898 or the Pascagoula Police Department at (228) 762-2211.
