D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

There's a sense of high anticipation in the D'Iberville business community. The $300 million Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort is less than two months away from opening.

Casino officials presented a short briefing Tuesday morning at a meeting of the D'Iberville-St. Martin Chamber of Commerce. About 50 business owners were in attendance.

Casino executives say the project is on time and on budget and it should be open by the middle of December. The Scarlet Pearl will feature 300 hotel rooms, as well as a world-class miniature golf course as the destination's premier non-gaming amenity.

The casino will also employ more than 1200 people. Business leaders we talked with say the resort will mean more business in the community and more people coming to visit. They are all hoping to take advantage of the economic shot in the arm the Scarlet Pearl will provide. They also feel that new businesses will eventually move to the area as well.
