OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - It's not too late to submit artwork for the Blue Moon art contest, but the deadline of Oct. 16 is quickly approaching.
The statewide project is open to all Mississippi artists. The winner will receive $2,000 and be the featured artwork for next year's Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival's promotional items.
In addition to the cash prize, the winner of the statewide project will have their artwork featured in promotions for the upcoming Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival.
The contest, which was announced in June, is encouraging artists of all caliber to do their own artful interpretation of the Blue Moon brand.
The winner of this year's contest will be announced during next month's Peter Anderson festival, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 7-8, 2015, in downtown Ocean Springs. The event is being hosted by the city's Chamber of Commerce Main Street Tourism Bureau and Blue Moon.
Last year's winner of the Blue Moon art project was Suzan Templin of Gulfport. Her artwork can currently be found on souvenir cups and other promotional items announcing this year's Peter Andersen Arts & Crafts Festival.
Elizabeth Huffmaster was also selected for the People's Choice award last year at the 36th annual festival last year and received a monetary prize, as well.
Entries for the contest can be dropped off at the Chamber offices, located at 1000 Washington Ave., by 3 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2015.
