OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Several gardens throughout Ocean Springs will soon be getting a splash of pink. It's something that garden clubs participate in statewide. The clubs plant flowers and trees that bloom pink flowers and foliage.

This is the fifth year that the Ocean Springs Garden Club has participated. Monday, the club planted pink snapdragons and a watermelon pink Crape Myrtles at the Singing River Ocean Springs Medical Center. The color pink represents breast cancer awareness month which is celebrated in October.

Traci James, with the garden club, said the flowers will bloom within a matter of days. She also said the club will be planting other gardens throughout the city.
