GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

The Gulfport fire department did some equipment testing Monday. If you drove near downtown, you may have seen the fire trucks lined-up along the service road just north of Highway 90.

Firefighters were testing the fire hoses. It's a check-up that's required at least once a year.

The firefighters tested the hoses and also checked the couplings which link sections of hose together.

“We're doing a little bit of hose testing. We stretch out all of our hose and we pump water through it at a certain PSI for so long and make sure all the hoses are functioning right. We actually had one of 'em bust awhile ago so we had to take it out of service and just make sure everything's working,” said Gulfport firefighter Nick Seymour.

The Gulfport fire department is testing the hoses and equipment from all 12 of its fire stations.
