BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - A Bay St. Louis building official was taken into custody Friday night after being involved in a traffic accident, according to Police Chief Mike DeNardo.
Charles Oliver, who oversees the city's building department, was taken away from the scene of a four car accident by a Hancock County Sheriff's Department DUI officer. It happened at the corner of Washington Street and Highway 90 around 9:30 p.m.
Chief Deputy Don Bass confirmed to WLOX that the case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Department for investigation. Bass says Oliver was traveling in an antique cruiser when he hit a car; causing a chain reaction.
According to Bass, Oliver's blood alcohol level will be tested. The results of the test will determine if charges will be filed.
There were no serious injuries reported in the crash.
