PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

A Jackson County family is looking for answers. They want to know who defiled the grave of a loved one and why.

22-year-old Tiffany Nicole Bridgman died just over one year ago in a traffic accident in Pascagoula. She was laid to rest in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.

This past Saturday, family members went to her grave on the one year anniversary of her death to lay down new flowers and remember her. Sometime between then and early Monday morning, someone defiled the grave.

Red paint was poured on the tombstone, covering up Tiffany's picture. A ceramic Bible was covered in green paint, and flowers had been knocked over. This grave desecration brought a new wave of grief for Tiffany's mother, Mary Austin. She wonders why anyone would do something like this.

Meanwhile, the family has filed a report with the Pascagoula Police Department and is asking anyone with information to call the police department.

Doug Walker is following the story and will have more later this evening on WLOX News and on WLOX.com.
