GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport police say they have caught the man investigators believe is responsible for robbing several businesses over the past six weeks.
Gulfport Police Department spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel said Leon Ratliff, Jr., 68, was arrested at his home Saturday and charged with four counts of armed robbery.
According to McDaniel, Ratliff is accused of the following armed robberies:
- Aug. 17, 2015: Chevron gas station at 12486 Highway 49
- Sept. 11, 2015: Shell gas station at 10015 Highway 49
- Sept. 19, 2015: Dollar General at 817 Pass Road
- Sept. 22, 2015: Shell gas station at 394 Pass Road
According to investigators, in each robbery, Ratliff entered the businesses with a handgun and demanded cash, and each time, he got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
McDaniel said Ratliff is being held at the Harrison County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
