MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Flooding has long been an issue in Moss Point, with much of the city located in a flood zone. Because of that, city officials are working with the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) to obtain a grant to come up with solutions to the flooding problems.
On Tuesday, leaders and community members will discuss what can be done with the money if a grant is received.
"This grant will give us a great opportunity to go into that flood zone area that we have here in Moss Point, give them a better way of living as far maybe relocating some out or even build while they are in place. Because there are some people that may not want to leave," said Andrew Beamon with the City of Moss Point.
A community workshop will be held at Moss Point city hall from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon followed by public meeting to gather input from residents. That's also at city hall from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
