DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) - Diamondhead's public library is closing. Mary Perkins, the public relations officer for the Hancock Library System, said the decision to close the East Hancock Public Library is due to funding cuts.
The vote to close the library follows a $42,000 cut from the county's board of supervisors. We're told the library has seen $73,000 in cuts over the past several years. According to the Diamondhead News Online, the library will close on or before December 31, 2015.
The brand-new facility just opened in 2013.
