RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

$350,000 worth of black tar heroin is off the streets Wednesday evening, thanks to the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

Law enforcement officials say a state trooper with the Criminal Patrol Unit stopped a 2015 Dodge Ram pick-up truck around noon on westbound I-20 in Rankin County.

After receiving consent to search the truck, officials found eight pounds of black tar heroin and nearly $2,500 cash, both inside of an industrial hydraulic jack.

According to veteran law enforcement officers, it is the largest amount of black tar heroin ever discovered in one seizure.

Mario Abarca Diaz, 20, of Atlanta, Georgia was arrested and charged with possession of heroin. Diaz is currently being held at the Rankin County Detention Center until his initial court appearance.
