Rockachaws quarterback Myles Brennan is no stranger to success on the football field. Last season he led the nation in passing.
After five games in 2015, the 6-foot-3, 185 pound junior ranks 5th in the latest MaxPreps national passing statistics with 1,801 yards passing, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He's completing 57 percent of his pass attempts.
On Friday, Brennan overcame a tremendous pass rush from the D'Iberville Warriors defense by completing 26 of 48 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns. Owen Betz hauled in both TD receptions consisting of 51 and 33 yards.
With 15 seconds left in the game, Brennan scored the winning touchdown on a one yard run. He's the WLOX Player of the Week.
Brennan says he's not concerned with stats, only victories.
"They don't mean anything to me, "stated Brennan. "All I care about is going out here and playing to the best of my ability and doing the best things for this team and being able to win."
Head coach Bill Conides said, "He's the guy who really wants to put the entire team on his shoulders and is going to do anything in his power to make a victory happen. He'll do it play-in and play-out as you have seen, not only this season but last season as well. He continues to progress as a quarterback, but more importantly he's progressing as a leader."
Owen Betz is another leader on the Rockachaws football team. Besides hauling in 2 touchdown passes on Friday, the senior ran back a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.
St. Stanislaus has an open date this week before hosting Vancleave October 2.
