The Biloxi Shuckers enjoyed a banner first-season on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and despite losing game five in the Southern League Championship finals to Chattanooga, baseball fans watched outstanding Double-A baseball.
Manager Carlos Subero, his coaching staff and the players gave us plenty to cheer about and something to look forward to in next season.
The Milwaukee Brewers also took notice of the outstanding talent on the Shuckers roster. Biloxi is the Double-A affiliate of the Brewers and Milwaukee promoted six Shuckers to their major league roster.
They will join the Brewers in Chicago for game two of a three game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher, Jorge Lopez...got the call up.
The 22-year-old posted 12 wins and 5 losses and a 2.26 earned run average. He went 2 and 1 in post season play.
Tyler Wagner was the Southern League's ERA champion with a 2.25 earned run average. He struck out 120 batters and returns to Milwaukee. He made his debut May 31 against Arizona.
Pitcher Adrian Houser is moving on up... He posted a 4-1 record with a 2.92 ERA.
Outfielder Michael Reed had a .371 on-base percentage and batted .269 with 33 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, 70 RBI and 26 stolen bases with Biloxi and Colorado.
Infielder Yadiel Rivera received the call up to Milwaukee. He hit .253 with 17 doubles, seven triples, two homers and 44 RBI.
Relief pitcher Yhonathan Barrios went 6-for-6 in saves opportunities with the Shuckers and he's also heading to Milwaukee.
