GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A program that feeds hungry school children in Gulfport and Harrison County could be in jeopardy.
Based at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, Blessings in a Backpack used to provide nearly 400 bags of food a week in the backpacks of needy students. The bags are given to children on Fridays to ensure they have food to eat on the weekends.
Now, the program is down to 200 bags.
Tonight on WLOX News, Trang Pham-Bui will show you why the dwindling program could be in jeopardy.
