BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Hundreds of Biloxi city employees will be getting a little something extra for all their hard work in the next fiscal year. On Tuesday, the Biloxi city council approved a $55.7 million budget.
In it most employees will get a three percent raise or a minimum of $1,000. City leaders said it's a move that's well overdue.
"They're very deserving of it. As morale it encourages them to even work harder. So hopefully we can even come back in a couple of months and look at the employees that have been here longer and maybe they can get a bigger percentage, but we'll see," said Ward 3 City Councilwoman Dixie Newman.
Biloxi officials said employees, who have been with the city less than a year, are not eligible for the raise at this time.
