The Vieux Marche in Biloxi is about to get a new art installation thanks in part to the generosity of a downtown business.
Murphy's Roofing Supply in Biloxi is donating hundreds of wooden shipping pallets to Biloxi Main Street. These pallets will be used to display art in the alley between Kress Live and Level nightclub.
The alley will be known as Croesus Alley. The pallets will also be re-purposed to add seating to the Vieux Marche area.
Biloxi Main Street is hoping that bringing more art to the area will keep people downtown.
“It's a draw to the downtown. Art is a way of keeping downtowns very vital and where artists are thriving, downtown is thriving. That's been proven in other downtowns and it's true for ours, too,” Laurie Rosetti with Biloxi Main Street said.
The design work for the new installation is being done by the Community Design Studio on the Vieux Marche.
