BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - While visitors are a regular sight at the last home of Jefferson Davis, many likely don't spend the night on property. However, that wasn't the case for a group of young scouts from Petal.
Boy Scout Troop 3 pitched its tents on Beauvoir's grounds for a weekend of fun, but that's not all. The troop spent Saturday morning in work mode doing some cleaning in the Confederate Veteran's Cemetery.
Adults say the stay is a win-win for the scouts and the property.
"We think it's important to teach these young men how to be good citizens of our country and this is a great way to do it," said troop leader Rob Guyse. "There's no better way to learn about history or where we've come from. It's just important to be a good citizen.
Any scout troop, boys or girls, can stay on the property free of charge.
