BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Pitching is the name of the game and Jorge Lopez reeled in his 13th win of the season against 5 defeats making sure the BlueWahoos would not make a big splash in game one of the best-of-five Southern League South Division playoff series.
Lopez gave up only 1 run on two hits with 7 strikeouts in 6 two-thirds innings.  He threw for 115 pitches, 65 for strikes.  Lopez was tossing a no-hitter up until the sixth inning.

Lopez said, "I think my plus pitch was the change up tonight.  I couldn't throw a strike for a swing and miss.  They were waiting for that and I just controlled my fast ball.  That's the biggest thing."

Biloxi manager Carlos Subero has developed a solid pitching staff, led by Lopez who has developed confidence on the mound.

"He had command of all three pitches tonight, "stated Subero. "Real good job working with his change up.  Great outing by Jorge.  It's good to see him pick up his game when we needed it in game one."

Center fielder Brett Phillips had a big night at the plate for the Shuckers in his first game back after sitting out with an injury.
He went 2 for 3 with two doubles, and his second two-bagger plated Garrett Copper in the bottom of the sixth to give the Shuckers a 3-1 advantage.

Phillips said, "I felt great being back in the lineup.  I didn't know how it was going to go.  Like you said, I've been out like 18 days I think it was and just being back I didn't try to do too much.  Just put together a good team at bat.  Do whatever I can to help the team win.

Orlando Arcia had 2 hits in 4 at-bats and drove in 2 runs, including a triple off the center field wall that scored the Shuckers first run in the bottom of the first.

The Shuckers will try to hook another win over the BlueWahoos beginning tonight at 7:10 at MGM Park.

Manager Subero says he'll send Adrian Houser on the mound Friday night.  Houser carries a 4-1 record with a 2.92 earned run average.
