MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Tragedy struck in Moss Point on Thursday morning when a man drowned while on a fishing and crabbing outing with his wife on the Escatawpa River.
Moss Point police spokesman Stacey Deans said Belinda Sherman and her husband, Wilton Lynn Sherman, were crabbing and fishing at the Highway 63 Boat Ramp.
Belinda told police she went to the truck to take a nap and fell asleep. When she woke up around 7:30 a.m., she said she couldn't find Wilton. Belinda said Wilton had serious health issues.
First responders were called, and Wilton's body was found floating in the water south of the pier a short time later.
