The PRCC Wildcats will host No. 20 Hinds Thursday at Dobie Holden Stadium in a South Division opener for both teams.
The Wildcats defense must fill some gaping holes that were exposed in the loss to Holmes. The Bulldogs generated 550 yards of offense with 368 of those yards coming on the ground.
On the other side of the football, the Wildcats offense was limited to 16 yards rushing as quarterback Mark Lowrie was sacked five times for 42 yards in losses.
If the PRCC offense gets shutdown, sophomore punter Cody Mikell has the ability to boom the football. He averaged 44.2 yards on six punts in the loss.
Defensively Wildcats sophomore linebacker Jarkeith Ruffin was all over the field. He made 16 and 1/2 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks. Freshman linebacker Corey Jones piled up 19 tackles and recovered a fumble.
Hinds has reeled off two wins beating Holmes 32-28 and defeated Northeast 44-13. Eagles receiver Javon Wims had an impressive game receiving last win against Northeast. He had six catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
Hinds will attempt to extend its winning streak over Pearl River to 5 straight. The Wildcats last beat the Eagles in 2010, a 37-19 win at Raymond.
