OXFORD, MS (WLOX) - Ole Miss head football coach Hugh Freeze won't have 6-foot-1, 240-pound defensive lineman Issac Gross in the Rebels lineup the rest of the season.
Freeze says Gross suffered a neck injury about 18 months ago and it has progressively gotten worse. It was decided that Gross would sit out the remainder of the 2015 season and eventually will undergo surgery.
Gross got to play against UT Martin on Saturday in the Rebels 76-3 victory and made three tackles.
Last season Gross played in 12 games and started six of those games.
Gross is hoping to make a full recovery and will take a redshirt season with a goal of returning for a fifth year in 2016.
