JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - In a 4 to 1 vote, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved the 2016 budget for Singing River Health System on Tuesday morning. The health system's budget will be around $350 million.
Last month, health system administrators approached the board to ask for financial assistance in the form of a $2 million per year payment to help offset uncompensated care costs. The board said Tuesday it will not provide that assistance.
As for the health system's troubled pension fund, the budget shows SRHS will contribute $1.2 million per year to the plan.
County supervisors expect the health system to turn a $700,000 profit in 2016 if everything goes according to plan.
