Gulf Islands National Seashore to host 30th annual International Coastal Cleanup

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Gulf Islands National Seashore will host their 30th annual International Coastal Cleanup September 19 from 9 a.m. - noon.

The organization has adopted a "Pack it in – Pack it out" policy to stem the tide of litter on the beach.

"Our goal is not just to clean the beaches, it is also to educate people about keeping the beaches clean in the first place," stated Superintendent Dan Brown.

International Coastal Cleanup will be held at the following locations:

• Perdido Key Area - Meet at Johnson Beach Star Pavilion
• Fort Pickens Area – Meet at Langdon Beach, Gulf side

Entrance fees will be waived for volunteers, and the first 100 to arrive will receive a free, reusable water bottle. Volunteers are advised to wear closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, hats and to bring drinking water. Trash bags, gloves data cards and more information will be available on location.
