GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - South Mississippi parents have a chance to learn more about the fight to fund education in Mississippi. A public forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. If you want to make a comment you need to sign up by 5 p.m.
The forum will go over the two ballot initiatives, 42 and 42-A.
The two ballot initiatives are similar in wording. Initiative 42 would send the state to a chancery court should the legislature fail to fund the Mississippi Adequate Education Program. The alternative, Initiative 42-A, would allow a legislative shortfall without going to court. Voters will choose between the two in the November general election.
