PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Pascagoula police have made an arrest in relation to the hit-and-run crash that killed one woman Sunday night. Capt. Shannon Massey said 38-year-old Annette Johnston, of Pascagoula, was hit by a vehicle on Nathan Hale Avenue near Chicot Street.
Massey said Johnston was taken to Singing River Hospital to be treated for her injuries, but she was later transferred to USA Medical Center in Mobile, AL.
Massey said Johnston's family told police she is legally dead but remains on life support so they can donate her organs.
James Earl Williams, 48, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident, according to Massey. Williams is in jail awaiting his initial court appearance.
Johnston worked at the Dollar General in Pascagoula. The company released this statement about her death:
