Katrina Trail installation offers reminder of storm's fury

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Pascagoula is commemorating the 10 year anniversary of Katrina with an interactive display at Beach Park with Katrina Trail, a walking track features tiles painted by Pascagoula school children.

The public art installation is made of three metal waves that represent the wave action at Beach Park during Katrina. It is designed to symbolize the city's path to renewal and serves as a reminder of Katrina's fury.

"It's a somber reminder of what mother nature can do," said Suzanne Steinberger with the City of Pascagoula. "On a positive note it's a history lesson for anyone who walks through the park and reads things. For people who are from out town, they can learn about the culture of Pascagoula and the history of the storm as well."

Pascagoula will hold a ceremony highlighting the Katrina Trail at Beach Park Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m.
