Biloxi Shuckers manager Carlos Subero shuffled his starting lineup and it paid off in a big way at the plate.
Right fielder Josh Fellhauer had a big night going 2 for 2 with 3 RBI. He belted a single into left field off BayBears starting pitcher Johnny Shuttlesworth that drove home Nathan Orf in the bottom of the first. Fellhauer attempted to race down to second base and was tagged out. He singled into left field in the fifth inning that scored Yadiel Rivera for the Shuckers fourth run in the inning.
Nick Ramirez led off the fifth with a solo blast that sailed over the right field wall. That was his 14th home run on the season and his first since July 18.
Besides Ramirez, catcher Parker Berberet slammed a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the eighth. That was his first home run since last season. Berberet went 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.
Right handed pitcher Adrian Houser pitched a gem with the Shuckers 14th shutout on the season. He gave up only 2 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 base on balls in 7 innings to improve to 3-0 with a 2.17 ERA.
The Shuckers (73-52) are now 30 and 27 in the Southern League second half. Mobile (64-61) falls to 30 and 26 in the second half.
Biloxi goes for the series win 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at MGM Park.
