BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi city council members say they want more information on the mayor's proposal to restructure city departments.
On Tuesday, the council held a first reading of a resolution that would shift staff and responsibilities to create the Civic Innovation and Development Department.
Mayor FoFo Gilich says the new department will be charged with how best to maximize revenue and minimize expenses for the city for the ballpark, museums, civic center and the theater.
But in the meantime, some city council members want more explanation on exactly how the reorganization would work.
"Just going to point out the people that we'll be shifting. The reporting that we'll do for both the revenue and expense side. Everything relates to the bottom line," said Gilich.
Gilich says the move would not require any hiring, and he'd like to see the restructuring in place before the start of the new fiscal year.
