OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - In celebration of the National Park Service's 99th birthday on August 25, Gulf Islands National Seashore is offering free admission on Tuesday.
The usual $15 entrance fee will be waived to allow visitors to enjoy beaches, museums programs historic forts and recreational opportunities at no cost.
"Birthdays are a time to celebrate and we want everyone to join the party," said Gulf Islands National Seashore Superintendent Dan Brown. "Gulf Islands National Seashore offers something for everyone, so I invite you to visit and Find Your Park."
According to a press release, 'Gulf Islands National Seashore was established in 1971 to preserve areas possessing outstanding natural, historic, and recreational values for public use and enjoyment. Last year, more than 4.4 million park visitors enjoyed the site and added $221 million dollars to the local economy and supported 2,731 area jobs.'
