The 1,899 fans in MGM Park witnessed another one run decision between Mobile and Biloxi. It took the Shuckers eleven innings to pull out the victory.
Jorge Lopez started the game on the mound for Biloxi and gave up back-to-back singles in the top of the first inning. With two outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Lopez struck out Gabriel Guerrero to get out of the jam.
The BayBears got back-to-back hits in the top of the third, including a double that bounced over the center field wall that placed Mobile runners on 2nd and 3rd. Rudy Flores stepped up to the plate and ripped a fly ball to deep center field, Brett Phillips of the Shuckers would come up with yet another over the shoulder catch for the second out to limit Mobile to one run, as Socrates Brito tagged and raced to home plate giving the BayBears a 1-0 advantage.
The Shuckers got things going in the bottom of the 5th inning. Tyrone Taylor led off the inning with a single into left field. Adam Weisenburger was hit by a pitch placed Shuckers one first and second base. Biloxi pitcher Jorge Lopez laid down a sacrifice bunt and Taylor moved to third base and Weisenburger at second base. Center fielder Brett Phillips belted a sacrifice fly ball to right field, Taylor galloped home to tie the game at one run apiece.
It stayed that way until the bottom of the eleventh. Nathan Orf of the Shuckers led off the inning with a single to right field off reliever Jimmie Sherfy. Josh Fellhauer walked and Orf moved to second base. With one out Yadiel Rivera delivered a line drive single into left field, Orf scored the winning run and Rivera was mobbed by his Shucker teammates, after propelling Biloxi past Mobile 2-1.
Shuckers reliever Jed Bradley posted his first-win in a Biloxi uniform. He pitched two solid innings, gave up no hits with two strikeouts.
Jorge Lopez pitched well for the Shuckers. In 6.0 innings Lopez gave up one run on seven hits and 6 strikeouts.
Jacob Barnes pitched 2 innings. He gave up 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. Damien Magnifico pitched the ninth inning and surrendered a hit with one strikeout.
The Shuckers tied the five-game series at one win apiece and both Southern League teams clash Tuesday night at 6:40 at MGM Park.
