GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Two people are dead Monday night. Police say both died from gunshot wounds during the afternoon hours. It all happened at the corner of 20th and 30th Avenues in Gulfport. Their deaths leave behind a feeling of shock and a question of why?

Shortly after the deaths the crime scene was thick with police presence, and onlookers. A man and woman found dead in broad daylight near a busy street.

"At about 5:38 this evening Gulfport fire had responded to this area for a different call,” said Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania.

Moments later firefighters were flagged down by someone who pointed them to a Red Toyota Camry. That's where police said the bodies of two people were found.

"We have determined that it is a murder suicide and they are related,” said Harrison County Coroner
Gary Hargrove.

Police said at least one lived in a building next door to two businesses. The owners of the stores said they were saddened to learn of the deaths.

"Make me so nervous and really scared. I tell him {husband} and when I heard that it shocked me and I feel being scared and we neighbor,” said Brenda Thai a store owner.

Authorities stopped short of revealing the names of the two, but did say they weren't looking for anyone else.

"We do not believe there is any outstanding suspects on this crime," said Papania.

If any more information is released by authorities we will update this story on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
