The City of Gautier has a valuable new asset to help keep its waters safe. Today, the city took delivery of a 30-foot Zodiac rescue boat, which was donated by Gulf LNG Energy.
Mayor Gordon Gollott called it a tremendous asset for the city. The city's 13-member dive team will use the vessel for various rescue and recovery operations.
The 1999 Zodiac is valued at around $45,000.
It may surprise some people to know how much water is in the city limits of Gautier. With the Mississippi Sound, West Pascagoula River and various bayous and inlets, there's more than 100 miles of waterfront in Gautier.
Steve Phillips will tell you more about the vessel tonight on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
