MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

A fire tore through a large two story home in Moss Point Saturday morning.

The house is located on the 3800 block of Ann Street. Fire officials were called to the scene around 10:20 a.m.

The house belongs to a family of six who were out of town at the time. The parents were traveling home from their son’s graduation in Oklahoma when they got the bad news.

One of the children received a text message about the fire and then alerted his family. Family members say they have been gone since Wednesday.

The blaze caused part of the roof to collapse. Fire officials say the home is unlivable at this time with about 30 to 40 percent of the house destroyed.

The fire has been contained, but firefighters are still putting out hot spots.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

We’ll update this story as more details become available.
