St. Martin Yellow Jackets are loaded with offensive weapons

ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) -

Quarterback Wayne Overman, a 6-foot, 205 pound junior is back for his senior season.  He generated 3-thousand, 541 yards of offense and 38 touchdowns in 2014.

Senior Tyler Polk returns after missing most of last season with a knee injury.  In 2013, Polk had 16-hundred-51 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns and 546 yards passing with 4 TDs.

Both Polk and Overman will alternate at quarterback, running back, wide receiver and will play some defense.

Whitehead said, "It's a good thing to have.  You know when Tyler first came up he was our main weapon and now we've got three of four other guys that can go. Definitely will be a plus."

"Our goal is to win district and that's what we're fighting for right now, "stated Polk. "So, I believe that we can do it."

Overman said, "We have a really good group this year and we plan to do real big things.  Just have to keep working and we'll be there."

Overman's top receiver is returns.  6-2 senior Kaleb Clark snagged 39 catches for 677 yards and 10 touchdowns and netted 17.4 yards a reception.

Running back and inside linebacker Isaac Williams says the Yellow Jackets defense wants to sting the opposition.

Williams said, "Our goal on defense is to finish every tackle and make turnovers and let our offense come in and finish it off."

"We're just trying to work hard, "said linebacker Justin Clevenger.  "Be the best that we can be and hopefully make the playoffs."

Kalem Reddix, a 6-1, 190 pound junior receiver, a transfer from D'Iberville, is expected to make an impact along with 5-8, 190 pound freshman running back-linebacker "Ham" McGee.

St. Martin will open the 2015 high school football season on the road, August 21st. at Poplarville, facing the home standing Hornets.
