JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A local hospital system is receiving national recognition for its achievement of organ donation performance standards. Singing River Hospital was recognized as the Most Supportive Organ & Tissue Hospital.
The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency served as host for the second annual Apero Awards in Jackson. The awards ceremony recognized hospital partners, medical professionals, corporate partners and donor ambassadors. A total of 17 awards were presented to individuals and organizations from throughout the state.
"We at Singing River Health System have always been strong supporters of organ donation, and we're glad that we have the wherewithal to participate," said Kevin Holland, Singing River Health System CEO. "Therefore, this award from MORA is particularly meaningful to us."
Singing River Hospital and Ocean Springs Hospital were recognized during the ceremony with 30 other hospitals from the state for enrollment in the Mississippi Hospitals for Hope campaign. That project was developed to ensure that hospitals across the state provide support, resources and the information needed to participate in the national campaign.
